Porn doesn't always have to revolve around mere in-and-out action - particularly not with this director. Sasha Grey is every bit as ambitious as her director and this kind of role is exactly what she needs at this point in her career. That said, I would have preferred to see more sex scenes - but with less diffusion and higher light levels. Despite these shortcomings, THE LAST ROSE remains a commendable effort.
