Times are tough for smut producers. Thanks to illegal downloads, making money with porn is becoming increasingly hard. Now Fuzzy Mainstreet shows us how to save a buck or two during production in this achingly funny real-life satire.
Fuzzy used to take champagne baths, now he's happy if he wakes up in his bathtub with a glass of moonshine. So how does he make money off his porn productions in the future without bankrupting himself? Here's some of his advice: don't rent a villa when - thanks to the real-estate crisis - there are so many empty ones in the L.A. area where you can just walk in and shoot. Or why not just secretly film during another crew's shoot? Fuzzy's creativity is limitless. Like any true guerilla filmmaker, he knows that sometimes you have to beg, borrow and steal to make a movie. What works for mainstream indies will work for porn too!

When I first looked at the cover I felt that someone was trying to sell off a z-grade flick as a piece of 'reality' porn. But, luckily, this is not the case. Director Mike Quasar has a good sense of humour and this movie is testament of it. With tongue firmly in cheek, he gives us Tommy Pistol as Fuzzy Mainstreet (great performance), some funny one-liners and a ton of surprisingly exciting and fresh sex scenes. And, of course, there are plenty of facials too. 'Fresh' does not necessarily mean original, mind you. But it turns out that the combination of irony and sex is a killer combination - and a great stimulant too. The guys and the gals are in good spirits and the excellent picture quality adds to the fun. HOW TO MAKE A CHEAP PORNO is a good example of how the right ingredients (story, humour, cast) can result in a simple but very tasty movie.
