Jacky St. James delivers a solo work after his exceptional collaborations with Eddie Powell (on TORN and THE SUBMISSION OF EMMA MARX). But Powell isn't too far from the director's side with THE TEMPTATION OF EVE: he operates the camera together with Paul Woodcrest. This pretty much guarantees that the movie's visuals will be on a very, very high standard (and, naturally, that's exactly what they are). But while the camera work is almost awe-inducing, the story is anything but. I have to say, I much preferred the plotlines of the two masterpieces mentioned above. Remy LaCroix is not the most convincing lead either, although I can see her 'girl-next-door' appeal for female audiences. Having a lead that offers plenty of identification potential for the audience is certainly a good thing for a couple-friendly flick, but in terms of performance I definitely prefer hardboiled starlet India Summer. The sex scenes are generally less intense than the ones in the brilliant THE SUBMISSION OF EMMA MARX (which is probably plot-related). THE TEMPTATION OF EVE is a carefully crafted couple-friendly movie that offers solid entertainment but never quite reaches the brilliant heights of its predecessors.
