About Wasteland
Anna (Lily Carter) needs a break from her everyday routine and decides to visit her old school friend Jacky (Lily LaBeau) in Los Angeles. Despite their common roots in Nowhere, Idaho, they haven't seen each other in a long time. But Anna soon learns that life in L.A. has turned Jacky into a completely different person. A luxurious lifestyle is the only thing her friend cares about now. More importantly, she will do anything to keep it up - even if it means selling her body. But wallflower Anna has some dark obsessions of her own - and some repressed sexual desires too. Her friendly relationship to Jacky soon turns into an intimate, erotic adventure. But Jacky is not content with just one partner (or just women, for that matter). She needs men too - lots of 'em. Both friends embark on a roller-coaster ride of emotions and desire. Director Graham Travis' WASTELAND is an adult feature drama with explicit sex, great cinematography and an appealing storyline. The sex scenes run the gamut from tender to rough and are well-integrated into the plot.

After PORTRAIT OF A CALL GIRL this is the next piece by director Graham Travis. And one thing is clear: WASTELAND is a great porn movie. The word "movie" is well deserved unlike other adult productions that are more "porn" than "movie". PORTRAIT FOR A CALL GIRL already got high marks, WASTELAND is going to top them. Also Travis improved those little things that one could still criticize in the predecessor, like the lack of variety of the female cast.
WASTELAND again tells a dramatic story portraying women, this time it's Jacky (Lily LaBeau) and Anna (Lily Carter), two girlfriends. The story adds up nicely and is having a nice poetic touch. The camera work by Alex Ladd (supported by the legendary Mason and shooting star Carlos Dee) is fantastic. Very dynamic, it reminds me of the great classics from 'Golden Age of Porn'.
The main actresses Lily LaBeau and Lily Carter convince me on a sexual as well as professional acting level. The sex offers a broad range from sensual moments to rough, hard action. In general I think an experienced couple would find pleasure in that movie, so it's not just a guy thing. Even though I have to say it contains quite a lot of lesbian sex, those might not attract everyone and that could be one of the only negative points of that movie.
Besides the excellent picture also the soundtrack is on a very high level. No question, this is one of the best movies of the year 2012!

Writer/director Graham Travis delivers his follow-up to the impressive PORTRAIT OF A CALL GIRL, once again proving that he's an exceptional talent. WASTELAND is another gigantic step forward for Travis, thanks to the rather ambitious but moody story and the great cinematography. WASTELAND is definitely not your average porno! Calling it an adult feature drama is quite accurate. If all you're looking for is wall-to-wall sex, you've definitely come to the wrong place.
Just like in PORTRAIT OF A CALL GIRL the story and the characters are paramount. Hence the movie is dialogue-heavy. But to make up for that you get fast-paced, imaginative sex scenes that run the gamut from blowjobs to gangbangs (including double penetrations) and lezzie sex. In fact, there are quite a few girl/girl scenes in this movie. If you like intense lesbo sex with light S&M touches, you will be very pleased with this flick.
Whether or not this movie is couple-friendly, you have to decide for yourself. All the prerequisites are there thanks to the aesthetically pleasing visuals. There are no extreme-closeups on genitalia, yet the movie revels in girl/girl sex and cum-in-mouth gags. Not necessarily what a female audience might want.
WASTELAND sports an attractive cast with rather impressive acting chops. Some of the actors in the non-sex roles appear to be Hollywood professionals. The images are highly sensual, aesthetically pleasing but at the same time also rather obscene and moody. The soundtrack is adequate and features vocals too. In my mind, this is one of the best movies of the year!
