About Austin Powers XXX: A Porn Parody
It's the time of the swinging sixties: flower power and free love have conquered the world and turned it into a paradise of debauchery. But not everyone loves the new sexual freedom: Dr Evil (Tommy Pistol) wants to abolish love altogether and rule the planet on his own. First off, there is a previous Austin Powers porn spoof in existence; directed by Jim Powers, it's called AUSTIN PROWLER and it is terribly funny. So right from the get go B. Skow's AUSTIN POWERS XXX - A PORN PARODY is up against a comedy giant. Fortunately, the second spoof of the same material is pretty entertaining too. The line-up is peppered with famous names like Allie Haze, Nina Hartley and Raylene (the latter two MILFs being rather more gutsy casting choices, if you ask me). Personally, I am not into MILFs - and I am even less into fake cumshots (even when they are supposed to be funny as in this movie). Tommy Pistol, on the other hand, deserves top marks for his double performance in the lead roles of Austin Powers and Dr. Evil. The latter looks rather bad in his makeup, but I guess that's a deliberate choice on behalf of the director. Whether or not this makes any sense is anyone's guess. The overall quality of the presentation is good and the plot of the movie is quite funny (well, at times). The sex is quite stimulating on the (w)hole. Still, despite his undeniable talent, B. Skow can't hold a candle to veteran director Jim Powers.
