About America XXX
In the US of A you can join the army and go shoot people in foreign lands in the name of the government at 18 - but you can't legally get a beer at any bar in California. That's the kind of statement members of Californian rock-bands make to interviewer Chloe when she asks them about politics, sex and freedom of speech. Kris Kramski, cult-director, has come up with some clever questions: Would you have sex with an underage groupie? Would you be prepared to get shot for your country? Is porn okay, or should it be prohibited? Is AIDS part of a government conspiracy? The interviewees come up with some equally clever answers: Better to relieve oneself watching porn, than go and shoot someone out of sexual frustration. The rock musicians liked Kramkski so much, they provided the music for the six more or less provocative scenes.
The sex-scenes that are strewn between the interviews, show one threesome with two chicks in some damp factory-hall - inclusive of anal finale. A Nazi officer is sucked by two naked furies, debased sexually and forced to lick up his own spunk. This is followed by another threesome, this time, a man in shabby transvestite get-up and two 'neon'-sluts. In the following lesbo-act on a mouldy matress, Kramski gets two pussies to play with each other's cunts. A solo between two well-behaved 'dobermans' ends without any trouble. A group of hobos not only ravage their cans of dog-food, but also the arrongant blonde; she gets acquainted with an unwashed cock up her arse. The final number features two sisters (?) who fuck two lads on a cold concrete floor. All six scenes feature rock-music from the following US bands: Supercocks, Shoelessjoe, Stardom Depression, Bomber, Fireball Ministry and Johnny Toxic's e-guitar sounds.

In the end the whole thing's just too transparent. To fuck in front of a swastika-flag and then to babble about freedom of speech and artistic 'freedom'? Sorry, but 'swastika'-romanticism doesn't cut it, any high-school kid could come up with that. Asking tattooed rockers if they'd go to war for their country?! Conceitedly quoting Benjamin Franklin, Gore Vidal and other great historical figures (arrongantly including Kris Kramski himself)? What's AMERICA XXX supposed to be - a documentary? Porn? Pornocraphically, it's exactly the fact that the fucks are like video-clips, there's no original sound, no build up, that's annoying. The music is often; undisputedly; nicely rough and hard. Just make either good and hard rock or raunchy porn - leave the 'making-the-world-a-better-place' to others. I'd much rather treat myself to a 'Slipknot' DVD and a Jules Jordan fuck-flick.

A masterpiece: Typical members of 'indie-bands' giving some very straight answers to equally straight questions, hot fuck-scenes, that are fairly provocative because of how they were shot, plus a generous helping of anal entertainment. Red-hot girls and very special points of view leave one speechless on the sofa, fly undone. It's a treat for the mind and the genitals and could disturb certain sensitive and innocent viewers. You have been warned.

French-man Kris Kramski is undoubtedly one of the most interesting directors within the so-called 'intello-porn' genre. With AMERICA XXX he delivers another risqué movie, somewhere between art, documentary and pornography. The movie centers around loud rock-music, more or less interesting discussions about war and peace, a longish (if not particularly enlightening) interview with Hustler-boss Larry Flint and of course hardcore-action stars such a s Chloe. All the sex-scenes are wrapped in fairly outré stories (alternative MTV-clips, so to speak), visually it's Kris Kramski's usual and very succesful style (grainy images, overexposures and exciting camera-angles). Many of the scenes take place in empty factories (as so often with Mr. Kramski). The scene entitled 'Examination of a Nazi', in my opinion, isn't all that wild, and the one with the dog-food, again in my opinion, is a reference to his earlier works (in particular the notorious slaughter-scene in ALL AMERICAN GIRLS IN PARIS). Finally, the high-point of the movie: A girl masturbating with a sword before a backdrop of two snarling Dobermans. It beats any Helmut Newton! I like this flick, even though it's not quite as good as Kramski's best. There remains Dixon Deeper's question though: What is AMERICA XXX supposed to be? Kris Kramski himself answers that one at the start of the movie: Turn it up, it's only rock'n roll!
