About Misty Beethoven - The Musical
MISTY BEETHOVEN - THE MUSICAL breathes new life into one of the greatest classics in porn history: Henry Paris' THE OPENING OF MISTY BEETHOVEN. Like the original, Veronica Hart's new version tells more or less the same story as the cinema-classic 'My Fair Lady'. Central figure is innocent Misty, taken under their wings by two callous fat cats to rattle the music-business - and get it laid.
Talking of "Music", it plays a rather big part in MISTY BEETHOVEN - THE MUSICAL. The movie's not only speckled with fuck-scenes but with half a dozen songs. These songs were likely recorded ahead with the cast, who prove to have considerable talent, and then neatly inserted into the movie. It's mainly rock, but there is the occasional ballad to flatter the pornista's ears.
Director Veronica Hart took heed of the historical origins of the original; the sex scenes are quite numerous but brief - as was usual in those days. Thankfully they drew the line of sticking to the original at the luxurious pubic-carpeting of the day. Debaucheries-wise, there's a healthy mix of twosome and group-scenes, even including some lesbo and anal. The action is mainstream-moderate in roughness.
VCA spared no effort with the bonus-materials either. Besides an audio-cd of all tracks from the movie, there's an audio-commentary by director Veronica Hart, a function which lets you watch all sex-scenes consecutively, multi-angle, four biographies plus an additional disc which (among other things!) contains a photo gallery, 40 minutes of 'behind the scenes' footage, interviews with Veronica Hart, four bonus-scenes, a clip of bloopers and a music-video.

The experiment of fusing musical and porn is, in itself, quite inventive. Victoria Hart and her label show a lot of inventiveness and loving attention to detail. Little old me, so totally not into musicals, doesn't feel the urge to write home about it though. Added to that, the song-scenes come across a bit very unnaturally, it's too obvious that they worked with playback. MISTY BEETHOVEN - THE MUSICAL certainly gets my respect, but it will have to be others who write the odes of admiration to it.

This remake of a sensationally cheeky 1977 classic is almost an insult. Camouflaged as boring musical, the makers present lame, interchangeable sexual acrobatics and a sense of humour that's difficult to appreciate.
